1998 ATHLETES OF THE YEAR

Kawaskee Teemer
Kawaskee Teemer is a student at Dougherty High School. Kawaskee was an All Region football player for three years, was named "Offensive Player of the Year" by the Macon Touchdown Club, scored 22 touchdowns, and was named "Offensive Player of the Region" (1997-1998). Kawaskee was a three-year member of the track team and was awarded a football grant to New Mexico State Jr. College. Kawaskee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Teemer.


Chuck Marks
Chuck Marks is a student at Monroe Comprehensive High School. Chuck was a first team All Region football player for two seasons, was named "Most Valuable Player" of Monroe football for two seasons, was named "Albany Herald Player of the Week" six times, holds the state record for the most touchdowns in a single football game - 8, is a Georgia-Florida All State participate, scored 52 touchdowns in two seasons, holds the region rushing record for two different seasons, and earned a football scholarship to Division 1 - The University of Florida - as a potential starter. Chuck is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Marks.


Braxton Fields
Braxton Fields is a student at Deerfield-Windsor School. Braxton's athletic accomplishments include (in basketball): All State GISA-AAA player (1997), All Region player (1997), averaging 14.5 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals per game (1997); being a three-year starter; being a second leading starter (1Oth and 11th grades); and AllAmerican Camp attendant (1997). In baseball, Braxton's achievements include: All Region player, centerfield -lead-off hitter, and average leading stolen base leader. Other sports Braxton has participated in are varsity track and varsity tennis. Braxton is the son of Mr. and Mrs. ·Richard Fields.


Rebekah Clower
Rebekah Clower is a student at Sherwood Christian Academy. Rebekah's accomplishments include: varsity cheerleader (12th gr.), varsity softball player for two years, and varsity track member for two years; and earning a signed scholarship to Darton College for softball. Rebekah's achievements during her softball career at Sherwood Christian Academy include: All State player, All Region player (1997-1998), and All State player, All Region player (1996-1997). Rebekah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max Clower.


Ravii Givens
Ravii Givens is a student at Westover High School. Ravii was selected for the Elite 10 All-Star basketball team, the GACA North-South All-Star basketball game, the Tennessee-Georgia All-Star basketball game, and to the first team of AAA All-State basketball. Ravii was chosen as The Albany Herald's "Player of the Year", as captain of the Westover High School state champion basketball team, as Region 1-AAA "Player of the Year", and as a participant in the Atlanta Tip-Off Top 25 players. Ravii is the son of Mrs. Peggy Chester.


Eddie Everson
Eddie Everson is a student at Byne Memorial Baptist School. With a grade point average of 3.67, Eddie's athletic accomplishments for the school year 1997 through 1998 include averaging 20 points per basketball game, averaging 10 rebounds per basketball game, and being a third baseman with a batting average of 467. Eddie is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Everson.


Derick Collier
Derick Collier is a student at Albany High School. His achievements include All Region AAA varsity football player, varsity basketball player, varsity track (9th); second-year letterman in football, first-year letterman in varsity basketball, first year letterman in track (10th); All Region Line Backer AA in football, second-year letterman in basketball, second-year letterman in track (11th); and All Region Line Backer, All Region Second Team Offense, fourth-year letterman in football, third-year letterman in basketball (12th). Derick was also named "Most Athletic." Derick is the son of Mrs. Wanda Jackson.
